(WTNH) --  People are talking about longer school days and the homeless man who isn't wearing the boots a New York City police officer gave him. Here's tonight's Voice of the People.

Steve from Oxford said, "extending classroom hours is a terrible idea. The problem's not the quantity of time, it's the quality of time."

Carolyn from Meriden said, "these kids have more than enough time for what they get for homework, on top of the long day, especially for the younger ones, I believe it's way too much on them."

Liz from Fairfield said, "about kids going to school for more hours, yeah! It's about time and why do you take the whole summer off? To help in the fields at the farm? No! You should be at school this whole time."

Robert said, "the cop didn't have to do what he did, but the cop did it out of the kindness of his heart. And now the guy without the boots is saying they shouldn't have put his picture on TV and stuff, I'm glad they did, just to show people that he doesn't want no help."

Mary from New Haven said, "the poor man who did not have any shoes should not be so degraded as to be on national television. So many contribute to soup kitchens, etc., and try to help the homeless. It is our duty. To donate a pair of shoes should not be on national television. I think it's very degrading to this poor man."
