Folks fired up over VOTP comment

(WTNH) - Our Voice of the People phone lines got flooded with comments firing back at two viewers who took stabs at Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson.

Many of you are also fired up, over a huge settlement stemming from an illegal immigration raid in New Haven.

"Number one they're here illegally so they shouldn't have any rights. Not only are we paying for illegal activity but we are rewarding them by not deporting them. What has Connecticut come to? This is an outrage," said Ruth Ann in Seymour.

"What's this country coming to? Now they can come here illegally and sue us too. Get Smart people," advised Joan from North Haven.

"The governor wants to have the price of beer and wine reduced. Why don't he try to get the price of gasoline reduced," Pete from Brookfield asked. "I think he'd be a little more popular with that, than lowering the price of booze."

"This is in reference to what Jonathan of Norwich and Jimmy of Bethany said yesterday about Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson, how they got what they deserved. Well currently they know very little about the disease of addiction," said Dennis from New Haven. "Will power and incarceration has no affect on that disease. With the best help the success rate is only 25 to 35%. You know it breaks my heart that they say they got what they deserved. I think what they said was very very cold."

"I'm just disgusted about the comment. Hey they need to keep their comments to themselves you know? They tired of it, then turn off your tv," said James from Meriden. "Maybe she was a drug addict, she was an incredible singer and people loved her. Elvis was a drug addict. They still talk about him everyday. Talking about oh he's still alive."

"They're calling her a drug addict and things like that. No one said anything about Elvis, Elvis was a drug addict. No one is saying anything about John Belushi. Chris Farley, nobody's saying anything Kurt Cobain. So all those suburbanites who are desecrating her name, leave her alone," said Marvin in Hamden.
