(WTNH) -- Bringing tolls back to Connecticut is a plan that state lawmakers are mulling over. A public hearing was held on the issue today and many of you are sounding off about the proposal in tonight's Voice of the People.
Dorothy from Ashford said, "I do not think that we should install tolls in Connecticut. I do not think it's a good idea."
Lee from Putnam said, "I don't think we should have the tolls. We already pay the highest sales tax, gasoline tax, in the country outside of Hawaii. It's not right, the people can only stand so much more in expenditures out of their paychecks."
George from Wallingford said, "Definitely put toll gates in, every state around has toll gates. And we're the only state that doesn't have a toll gate."
Bob from Killingworth said, "I don't want to see tolls back in the state of Connecticut as an added way to fund the road system. We already have a successful way it's known as the gas tax, take it out of the general fund and dedicate to the highways and we will have no problem."
Margaret from New London said, "What the heck. The economy is just starting to get back on its feet and now you propose to have tolls. What's the matter with you people?"
