Callers debate smoking at the beach

(WTNH) -- From the deadly shooting involving a state trooper, to the debate over smoking at the beach, to a story we did about cuddling for cash; our viewers are sounding off in tonight's Voice of the People.

Tony from Griswold said, "it's too bad he didn't have a taser. It wouldn't have cost the man his life. I believe that they should have more taser in the vehicles for exactly this type of situation, where the person does not have a firearm."

Debbie from Old Lyme said, "I could be sitting at one end of the beach and smell a person smoking a cigarette at the other end of the beach. I think it's very offensive to everybody there that is trying to enjoy the sunshine and salt water. And also I've noticed when people do smoke they leave the cigarette butts behind."

Rosanne from East Haven said, "the Last time I checked, we lived in America and it was a free country. It is getting to be utterly ridiculous. And maybe we should tell the Mayor to quit taxing us then. If we can't smoke anywhere or do anything maybe he ought to quit taxing."

Mary Beth from Stafford said, "that's kind of cool, that's really relaxing to tell you the truth. If I ever was in that business, I would do the same thing."
