Callers fired up over student loan rate increase

(WTNH) -- Increasing student loan interest rates, and illegal immigration have many of our viewers fired up.

"What right does the government have to up student loans double the rate when rates for other loans are the lowest they've ever been," asked Louise in North Branford. "This is abominable."

"If college interest rates go up only the rich are going to be able to afford college. The middle class and the poor will never be able to go to college, therefore where are all our jobs going," said Debbie in Meriden.

"I'm just thinking that's it's about time that the courts are doing something about illegal immigration in this country, instead of giving them amnesty like Obama's trying to do," said Dave in Shelton.

"This country was built on illegal immigration, but doing it the proper way. Filing for admission. If we allow this to continue, any of the Americans that have worked for social security and Medicare and all that other stuff won't be able to get that," said Barbara in Milford.

"I think it is very disgusting that this guy in Easton is allowed to keep those horses," said Helen in Danbury. "He's been doing it for years. The poor horses suffer. They have no place to sleep, no place to lay down."
