(WTNH) -- A project for a seawall to protect some New Haven homes has a lot of people weighing in and some folks are defending our lieutenant governor after a comment was made about her last week. Here's tonight's Voice of the People.
Tony from Derby said, "Who's gonna pay for the seawall? If they want a seawall, then pay for it themselves. Why should we have to pay for it with the tax dollars and federal money or whatever?"
John from Shelton said, "These people that lost all their homes along the shoreline, I feel very sorry for them and my heart goes out to them, but my thing is this, why does the government let people build so close to the shore, right close to the water? Storm comes, it wipes them out. Storm comes again, it wipes them out. We keep rebuilding and rebuilding and rebuilding. I really don't feel that they should allow the homes to be so close to the water, or we wouldn't be going through this."
Claire from Hamden said, "You know, I wonder if the CEO's and top management of Sears, K-Mart, and Walmart are gonna be working on Thanksgiving Day. I doubt it, but they're making people who work for them, who can't afford to lose their job or give up a day's work to come in an extra 4 or 5 hours. It doesn't make sense to pull these people away from their families."
Charlie from Wallingford said, "This is in response to the caller that bashed Nancy Wyman and said she just stands there. Where have our lieutenant governors been in the past? No one's ever even seen them and she is there supporting our governor, as lieutenant governor, and she's visible. Of course she has a job."
