(WTNH) -- Folks are calling in, telling us how they feel about the Governor's budget cuts. Here's tonight's Voice of the People.

Henry from Meriden said, "I think it's sickening that service to the elderly and others in need has to be cut because of this deficit mess, but the safety net of the state employees' jobs with no layoffs stays intact, including those obscene longevity payments. The Governor put unions ahead of the needs of the people."

Mike from Norwich said, "I have a novel approach to saving the state some money. Why don't we discontinue this $500 million busway that's supposed to run a deficit every year once it's up and running and nobody's gonna use? And while we're at it, we could save 800 million by knocking off or not even starting the project at UConn medical center, that's only gonna produce 300 jobs in 10 years."

Lou from Shelton said, "we're seniors living on a fixed income, we get extra help and we get energy assistance and he's cutting the budget $32 million. I tell ya, if we lose our help, we'll be homeless. And I'll make sure he knows it."

Anonymous from Waterbury said, "I totally agree with the Governor, they definitely need to cut...the Department of Social Services definitely need to get cut because there's a lot of young folks in the state, that can get up off of their rear end and go to work."
