(WTNH) -- Folks have a lot to say about the early release program and the state's unemployment rate in tonight's Voice of the People.
Frank from New Haven said, "the sad truth is, it's probably a lot higher than nine percent, due to the fact that when unemployment decides to release you from unemployment, they don't count the statistics that you are still unemployed, you're just not eligible anymore for unemployment. Therefore, there's scores of people in Connecticut still unemployed, still searching for jobs."
Michael from Westbrook said, "I'm okay with the Governor believing in the early release program, but who the heck is looking at the rap sheet to these people to let someone go with felony convictions of rape, and several arrests for doing the same thing that he just got arrested for. This is ridiculous to let convicted murderers go, I mean, get ourselves together here, please keep us safe!"
Maria said, "I think they should keep doing the early release because 7,500 inmates have been released in nine months, and just because three of them committed a crime, I don't think it's fair to the other inmates that are trying to come out and...do better for themselves and get a second chance."
Karen from Oakdale said, "regarding corporal punishment in schools, absolutely positively not. It's only teaching violence, and where as the parents should not teach violence to our children, I think it's the wrong message and I wouldn't want to see it happen here at all."
Phil from North Franklin said, "a lot of these kids in school are very disobedient, not only to the parents, but they're disobedient to the principal, and to the teachers, and to the guidance counselors."
