New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - A minor error can become a major headache when it comes to your taxes.

Some of the most common mistakes:

  • Simple data errors, such as entering in the wrong numbers or code
  • Forgetting to sign your tax return
  • Not putting enough stamps on the envelope when you send it to the IRS

But one of the biggest mistakes according to the IRS is individuals putting their Social Security numbers incorrectly on their return. If there is one thing you want to get right this is it.

Often times the only way the IRS can track you down or research your history is through your Social Security number.
