(WTNH) - The
Better Business
Bureau reports that buyers may want to be weary of purchasing
Michael Jackson memorabilia because there are a lot of scams
floating around on the internet.
The BBB said it's best to check the authenticity. The rarer
an item is, the more valuable it is. So whether it's something
autographed or owned by Jackson, that will cost you, but demand
proof before you buy. And if you buy do it because of sentimental
value not because you expect them to increase in value; that has
not been the case in the past.
"Right now we're seeing inflated prices on these items that are being sold," said Howard Schwartz of Better Business Bureau. "And if history is any guide, these prices are going to drop very quickly within a matter of weeks, days perhaps, so people should wait on them and not be paying top dollar for them."
The Better Business Bureau also recommends using a credit card if you can. That way, if there's a dispute, the credit card company can handle it and you're more like to get a refund.
