Post Office has late hours for tax day

(WTNH) - Major U.S. Postal Service offices in Connecticut plan to be open later in the evening Thursday for people who waited until the last minuted to do their taxes.

The Bradley Airport post office on Schoephoester Road in Windsor Locks will be open until 10:00 p.m. so you can get that postmark that shows you got your forms mailed before the deadline.

Also staying open later are Hartford's Weston Street post office, which will be open until 9:00 p.m., New Haven's Brewery Street Post Office until 8:00 p.m., and Stamford's Camp Street office will be open until 6:30 p.m.

The post office also has a number self-service Automated Postal Centers that are open 24 hours a day. They are in:

  • Bridgeport (Trumbull Station)
  • Danbury
  • Enfield
  • Fairfield
  • Glastonbury
  • Greenwich area: (Greenwich Avenue Station and Greenwich Postal Store)
  • Hamden
  • Hartford
  • Manchester
  • Milford
  • New Canaan
  • New Haven (Main Post Office)
  • Newington
  • Southbury
  • Stamford (Camp Avenue Station)
  • Stratford
  • West Hartford (LaSalle Road)
  • Wilton

If you use one of those automated centers, the postal service advises your item must must be deposited before the last collection time to get that date's postmark.
