New Haven (WTNH) - Toyota is expanding the recall of certain models of its vehcles because of concerns about sticking gas pedals. One Pontiac model is also now on the list.
Toyota is recalling an additional one-million vehicles. The new recall would affect five models:
The Vibe is made in the same plant alongside the Matrix.
The issue is the same -- the sticking gas pedal. It seems a large number of Toyota owners have experienced the problem.
"It's like the pedal just goes all the way to the floor," Camry owner Carl Woodall said. "You could beat it, I was stomping it and I was of course panicked at the time about what was going on."
The world's largest automaker has also recalled Toyotas in Europe. Experts say this latest recall is going to put a severe dent in Toyota's recovery effort.
Investors have been dropping shares of Toyota pretty quickly. The automaker is down again today after dropping 4.3-percent on the Nikkei, the Japanese stock market, yesterday.
