1 killed in apparent home invasion in Sharon

SHARON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police are investigating an apparent home invasion in Sharon that left one person dead Monday night.

Shortly after 6 p.m., State Police received a report of a home invasion with shots fired at a private home, located at 399 Cornwall Bridge.

Upon arrival to the single-family home, located well off the roadway in a rural area, police found a man deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. Another individual was found tied up, but did not appear to be injured.

A post mortem examination will be conducted to determine the manner and cause of death.

The incident remains under investigation. The names of the people involved haven't been released yet.

Anyone who may have seen any suspicious or unusual activity in that section of Sharon during the afternoon or early evening hours is asked to contact State Police at 860-824-2500.
