RIDEGFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Fifteen teenagers are accused of breaking in and trashing a Ridgefield home during a wild party while the owners were on vacation.
Police say the party in Ridgefield was thrown by a bunch of teenagers who broke into the house and then took off with $48,000 worth of items.
"They found an open window, and went in through the window and then they didn't open the door because there was a security system," explained Angela Tripuzzi. "But they had a party and stole a lot of things from the house."
According to police the house is very secluded, down the driveway, down a hill and around a curve. They were in there long enough to break in, call their friends, have a party, ransack the place and steal $48,000 worth of items.
Police say they have arrested fifteen Ridgefield High School students between the ages of 15 and 18. They face charges for everything from burglary to trespassing.
News of the party burglars spread quickly through the town.
"We have an alarm on our house and we hardly ever use it, and we are going to start thinking about turning it on more often," said resident Amy Pflaum.
"Kids are kids, and they are going to do what they are going to do," said Matt Dewing. "I know I did."
"But $48,000 of property stolen," said News 8's Bob Wilson.
"That is amazing, how the parents can not know where their kids are at that time of night or day," Dewing said.
According to the News-Times , Timothy McLean faces charges of burglary and larceny while Steven Fugazy and Eric Scala face charges of criminal trespass. All three are 18-years-old.
The paper also says eight 17-year-old boys, one 17-year-old girl and three 15-year-old girls were also arrested.
Kids are kids, but some of these kids are now looking at felonies.
