SUFFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A 19-year-old was charged with negligent homicide following a fatal accident.
On March 28, 2012 police responded to the report of a rollover car accident on Mountain Rd.
Upon arrival police found a blue Jeep Grand Cherokee with severe damage to the driver side. Paul Simison, the driver, was found dead at the scene.
Officers also found a Ford pickup truck on its roof. The driver of the Ford, Shaun Phelps was transported to Baystate Hospital for his injuries.
Both cars were towed from the scene and following an extensive investigation, it was determined that Simison was killed on impact due to multiple blunt traumatic injuries and that Phelp's actions contributed to Siminson's death.
An arrest warrant was issued charging Phelps with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, failure to keep right on a curve, and failure to wear a seat belt.
On Dec. 12, Phelphs, of 71 Berkshire Avenue, Southwick, MA turned himself in.
A court date was set for Dec. 20.
