SUFFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Suffield Police arrested a 19-year-old for bringing a 12 gauge shotgun to a party.
On June 9, 2012, police responded to an incident at a Phelps Road residence and found a large group of people on the premises.
Police found a 12 gauge shotgun that had its barrel sawed off, making it less than 18 inches in length, the minimum required by law, police reported.
The responding officers determined that James Fleming, of 761 East Street North in Suffield, brought the shotgun and that he and others decided to cut off the shotgun's barrel, police said.
The shotgun was taken as evidence and was later test fired, and found capable of discharging ammunition, police said.
Police got an arrest warrant and upon learning of the warrant for his arrest, Fleming presented himself to Suffield police.
Fleming was released on a promise to appear in Enfield Superior Court on Oct 23.
