MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH)-- Middletown police arrested two men with 103 bags of heroin, after they engaged officers in a pursuit on Friday.
Police say Alexis Rodriguez, 27, and Felix Jiminez, 28, both of Hartford, have extensive arrest histories for drugs.
They refused to stop for police and engaged officers in a pursuit, which ended when detectives were able to block off the street they were traveling on.
Police say as they approached the car, they observed in the center console, a clear cellophane bag containing wax paper folds tied off in bundles.
Detectives then found 103 bags of heroin and 1.2 grams of cocaine in the vehicle.
Rodriguez told police he didn't stop because they had drugs in the car and he didn't have a license.
Rodriguez was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to sell, possession with intent to sell within 1500' of a Housing Project, possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of cocaine with intent to sell within a 1500' Housing project, engaging in a police pursuit, interfering, operating a motor vehicle without a license, tinted windows and obstructed marker plate. He also has an outstanding warrant in East Hartford.
Jiminez was removed from the car and refused to be handcuffed. He was also in possession of a large amount of cash.
Jiminez was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to sell, possession with intent to sell within 1500' of a Housing Project, possession of cocaine, and possession of cocaine with intent to sell. He is currently on probation.
Both men are being held on $200,000 bond.
In an effort to combat heroin traffickers in Middletown, police also arrested two others on March 1st on drug charges.
Police say they arrested Gino Rizzo, 28, of Middletown, and Alexa Jerjies, 28, of East Hampton, for possession of 100 bags of heroin.
Rizzo's phone was seized by police and continuously was contacted by heroin addicts, requesting drugs from Rizzo, police say.
Rizzo was released on $30,000 bond and Jerjies was released on $20,000 bond.
