EAST HAMPTON, Conn. (WTNH)-- Two East Hampton brothers were arrested for burglarizing a building on Saturday.
Police say Christopher Cherry, 25, and Brian Cherry, 24, were seen by a witness loitering around an unoccupied commercial building that is being prepared for renovation, at 13 Summit Street around 11 AM.
The witness told police they noticed the men leaving with sacks filled with weighty objects, that they weren't in possession of when the men were first seen by the witness.
The brothers ditched their sacks near Airline Trail and split up to flee, when they realized they were being followed by the witness.
Officers later located Christopher Cherry behind an apartment building at 82 Main Street and Brian Cherry by the Board of Education building, at 100 Main Street.
Both men are convicted felons and were wanted on active arrest warrants.
Police say a follow up investigation revealed that the sacks they discarded, contained 30 lbs. of copper pipes that were stolen from the building where they illegally entered earlier.
