WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police have arrested two men for their roles in the April 29 murder of a man in Waterbury.
30-year-old Tomas Rivera and 24-year-old Luis Colon Ortega were arrested and charged for their roles in the April 29 murder of 40-year-old Danny Gonzalez.
Gonzalez was driving his car on Willow Street around 1 a.m. when he was shot multiple times in the head by Ortega, who was sitting in the backseat of the car. The car then crashed into two parked cars on the street.
Police say Rivera was also in the car at the time of the shooting. Both men had fled before officers arrived on the scene.
Rivera was held on a $750,000 bond and will appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Wednesday. He was charged with conspiracy at murder.
Ortega had fled the country after the incident and headed back to his native Puerto Rico. He was arrested there on Tuesday night. Extradition arrangements are being made. When he returns to Waterbury, he faces charges that include murder and conspiracy at murder.
Police say the shooting stemmed from a dispute Gonzalez and Ortega had earlier in the evening.
The investigation is ongoing.
