WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) -- Waterbury police have made a second arrest in the fatal hit and run of a 90-year-old woman.
Juan Sanchez, 21, has been charged with tampering with evidence and third degree hindering prosecution following the death of 90-year-old Nella Atkins.
Atkins, who has dementia, was killed when she was hit by a car on August 18.
Police say the driver, 18-year-old Marc A. Santos, admitted to hitting her and then driving away. He has been charged with felony evading responsibility.
Sanchez was charged because police say he allowed Santos to hide his car in his garage following the crash. He is also said to have assisted in concealing the crime by helping Santos replace the broken windshield and then disposing of it.
He was released on a $50,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court on September 4.
