5 men sexually involved with 1 teen

WATERTOWN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Watertown Police say a 15-year-old girl and her mother came to them months ago letting them know 5 different men she met online had sexual contact with her.

Kids as young as 8 and 9 are creating profiles and making up ages. In this case, News 8 is told the victim met these men on meetme.com and friendfinder.com

Botton line, this is a dangerous situation for all parties involved.

5 men from the ages of 27 to 21 are all facing sexual assault charges involving the same 15-year-old victim.

The first arrest was in December and the most recent was last week, 21-year-old Brandon Stasko of Stratford.

It's an investigation that started in Watertown.

"We have a woman come here at the beginning of October with her 15-year-old daughter with the claim being that she had sexual contact slash sexual relations with older men," said Deputy Chief Robert Desena, Watertown Police.

All of these men, from surrounding areas, she established a rapport with over social networking sites.

"Four of them drove to Watertown to meet with her," said Deputy Chief Desena.

This case is sadly, not surprising to a community educator at Safe Haven. 

"A lot of them put themselves between 18 and 25," said Louisa Printz, Safe Haven Community Educator.

Printz is talking about a group of 10-year-olds she recenty spoke to in a classroom. She says they don't understand the dangerous situations they could put themselves in when lying about their age.

She says now more than ever, parents need to educate themselves on how to use the latest technology so they can warn their kids.

"I asked these kids, "okay, you have this friend. Do you even know who that is? They're like no, not really."

In this case, the Waterbury Republican American reports that one of the suspects told police the victim claimed she was 18 before any sexual contact happen.

News 8 checked to see if any of these five men had records but they do not.

"The men or the women have to be wiser and say if I'm going to be intimate with you, we need some proof on how old you are," said Printz.
