Stamford (AP) - Six Connecticut women charged with assaulting another woman because they didn't like the way she was singing karaoke were ordered to leave a courtroom because of inappropriate behavior.

Attorneys say judicial marshals at Stamford Superior Court ordered the women to leave Wednesday, but it wasn't clear what the women did. Court rules prohibit talking, chewing gum, using cell phones and sleeping.

All six were supposed to appear before a judge in the assault case, but they were told to return to court Dec. 22.

Police say the attack on the 25-year-old woman from Port Chester, N.Y., happened on the night of Sept. 23 when she was singing a Spanish song at Bobby Valentine's Sports Gallery Cafe in Stamford. Police say the defendants heckled the victim before beating her up.
