BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A reputed Bridgeport drug dealer who was acquitted of murder last year has been charged with multiple drug crimes after a police SWAT team raided his apartment.
Bridgeport police told the Connecticut Post that they raided Robert Coover's apartment in the Greene Homes housing project on Thursday and found bags of crack cocaine and marijuana hidden in fake soda cans. Officers say they also found a BB gun and drug packaging materials.
Authorities say undercover officers bought drugs from Coover before they arrested him.
Coover is being held on $1.3 million bail. It's not clear if he has a lawyer.
Coover was acquitted of murder in October after witnesses recanted their statements. Police accused him of killing 33-year-old Anthony Meadows in a drug money dispute in 2009.
