STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut man has been charged with making bombs after police say they found what appeared to be explosives at his Stamford home.
Police told The Advocate of Stamford that 47-year-old Donald Saturno was arrested in Ridgefield on Monday morning on a warrant charging him with illegal bomb manufacture. He was held on $250,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at Stamford Superior Court.
Stamford officials went to Saturno's home Jan. 30 to investigate alleged blight and residential code violations. Authorities say they found what appeared to be a pipe bomb and suspicious chemicals, as well as shotguns, a surveillance system and a fortified tunnel under the backyard.
Police declined to say whether Saturno had plans to use the explosives.
It's not clear if Saturno has a lawyer.
