Man gets life in prison for E. Hartford killing

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — An accomplice in the killing of an East Hartford sneaker salesman during a home invasion robbery has been sentenced to 105 years in prison.

The Journal Inquirer reports that 25-year-old Kenneth Holley was sentenced on felony murder and other charges Wednesday at Hartford Superior Court, after having been convicted by a jury.

Prosecutors say Holley and 22-year-old Donele Taylor were involved in the robbery during which 35-year-old William Castillo was shot to death in his apartment in June 2009. Taylor pleaded guilty to felony murder and was sentenced to 32 years in prison.

A day after Castillo's murder, his cousin, Brian Rivera of Manchester, was shot to death at a candlelight vigil for Castillo in East Hartford. The man charged with shooting Rivera claimed self-defense and was acquitted.
