Car w/ children inside hit in shooting

New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - A woman was sitting her the back seat of her car on Thursday evening with two children when shots rang out; one of them hitting the side of the car.

The name of the victim is not being released at this time, but New Haven Police say the woman was sitting in the rear of a car with a 10-year old and a 1 1/2 year old while her husband was in a store.

The victim told police she saw a black male with a black NY Yankees hat fire four to five shots, one of them striking her car. She told police the shooter fled on foot towards Houston Street.

The suspect is described as wearing a black tank top, black baseball pants and had corn rows in his hair.
