New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - A 19-year-old New Haven man was shot in the chest Friday evening in the Hill section of the city.
At 7:45 p.m., New Haven police officers on routine patrol in the area reported hearing gunshots and immediately responded to the scene near 78 Third Street.
They located the victim, Michael Holland, suffering from a gunshot would to the chest.
Holland was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
Detectives were quickly able to identify the suspect and his whereabouts.
New Haven Police Department SWAT surrounded a house on Howard Avenue and took the suspect into custody without incident.
The suspect, 18-year-old Darius Jackson of New Haven, was charged with murder.
Police say the shooting was an isolated incident that was the result of a dispute.
Jackson is being held on $1.5 million bond and is expected to appear in court on Monday.
