Newtown man pleads guilty to making child porn

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A Newtown man has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl and using his cell phone to take photos and video of the abuse.

Federal prosecutors say 28-year-old Edward Wilson pleaded guilty to one count of production of child pornography Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Hartford. He faces 15 to 30 years in prison when he is sentenced on May 1.

Wilson also was arrested by Newtown and state police. Multiple state charges of sexual assault and child pornography are pending in Danbury Superior Court.

Authorities say Wilson kept photos and video on his home computer showing him abusing the girl in 2011 and 2012. They also say he used email to trade hundreds of other images and videos of child pornography and maintained his own collection of child porn.

Wilson has been detained since his arrest last April.
