Sentencing delayed for ex-East Haven officer

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A federal judge has postponed the sentencing of a former East Haven officer charged in a police bias case until after the trial of two other officers arrested in the investigation.

U.S. District Judge Alvin Thompson in Hartford ordered Jason Zullo's sentencing delayed Thursday citing the "interests of justice." He didn't elaborate.

A sentencing hearing for Zullo began Jan. 8 but was continued indefinitely because of a dispute over how much prison time Zullo faces under federal sentencing guidelines. Zullo was expected to get one to two years in prison.

Zullo was among four East Haven officers charged with abusing and harassing Latinos. He pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice in October.

Zullo will be sentenced after the expected April trial of co-defendants David Cari and Dennis Spaulding.
