Two home-invasion robberies in one week

Fairfield, Conn. (CT Post) - A home invasion on Lenox Road home shortly before midnight Saturday is the second forced entry and robbery at an occupied Fairfield home in less than a week.

Three men -- one indicating that he had a gun -- burst into the home after ringing the doorbell and demanded money from the resident and three guests.

Four days earlier, a group of three or four masked men broke into the home of an elderly Park Avenue couple and stole jewelry and cash.

However, police said Monday they do not believe the incidents are related because of different racial characteristics attributed to the intruders in the two cases. The men in Saturday's incident also were not wearing masks.

"This is more like a copycat crime," said Sgt. Suzanne Lussier, a Fairfield police spokesperson.

After the men gained entry into the Lenox Road home, police said a female guest was grabbed by the throat as her assailant yelled, "Where's the money? Give me the money."

While the woman did not suffer serious injury, she was left with a small red mark on her neck, according to police. She was one of three guests of the male resident.

The tallest of the robbers, described as 6 feet tall, weighing approximately 275 pounds and with his hair in dreadlocks, took the woman's purse and phone.

Nothing else was reported stolen, according to police.

Another intruder was also around 6 feet tall, the victims told police, and the third man was about 5 feet, 4 inches tall.

The trio fled on foot, and no unfamiliar cars were was seen in the area.

Police believe the Lenox Road robbers may have some familiarity with either the resident or his guests. That also is believed to be true in the Park Avenue incident.
