Cromwell, Conn. (WTNH) - A reward of up to $11,000 has been offered to help find the people who robbed the Webster Bank branch in Cromwell early Friday.
Police say three men armed with guns and wearing masks robbed the bank on Coles Road and Route 372 a little before 10:00 a.m.
"I just got a phone call from one of my friends that there were three guys that went in there with guns," Teresa Cody of Cromwell said, "and that's a little scary, especially living across the street from the bank."
Surveillance photos from inside the bank show the scene. Three suspects wearing masks, gloves and hooded sweatshirts. One is holding a handgun. In the back of one shot, you can see customers face down on the ground.
The trio stole an unknown amount of cash after demanding access to the bank's vault and took off in a Dodge Caravan stolen from New Haven Thursday night. They ditched it at the Quality Inn down the road.
There were no injuries reported. The bank was closed for the remainder of the day.
Noel Greaves runs a food trailer in the parking lot next to motel. He says detectives wondered if he had seen anything, then gave him a few details about what happened here. "They ditched the car in the back and ran to another car, I guess," he said. The bank sits next to busy Route 372 and is minutes from Interstate 91.
Anyone who may have information on the robbery or the robbers is asked to contact the Cromwell Police Department 860-635-2256.
As of 9p.m. on the day of the robbery no arrests have been made.
