SEYMOUR, Conn. (WTNH)-- A Seymour man turned himself in to police on Thursday night,  for an accident that killed the passenger in the car he was driving while drunk.

Police say in October, 20-year-old Manuel Esteves, was driving at a very high speed on South Main Street when he failed to negotiate a curve and struck a utility pole.

Korey Jordan, 20, of Naugatuck, was trapped inside the car by the heavy damage and later died from his injuries at Waterbury Hospital.

Esteves and the two passengers in the backseat, Joseph Staffier, 20, and a 17-year-old minor, all sustained injuries they are still recovering from.

Esteves was charged with manslaughter, assault, reckless driving and DWI.

Police say his blood alcohol content was eight times Connecticut's legal limit for someone under the age of 21.

Esteves posted his $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on December 13th.
