NORWICH, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police made an arrest in connection to the hit-and-run that put two in the hospital.

On Friday around 7:30 p.m. Norwich Police and Fire Dept. responded to Hamilton Ave for the report of a hit and run accident.

Police said a 20-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man were struck by a vehicle, which then fled the scene north on Hamilton Ave. towards Preston.

A witness described the offending vehicle as a dark-colored, four door sedan with heavy front end damage, operated by a black woman.

The man was discharged with minor injuries and the woman is listed in critical, but stable condition.

Around 10:30 pm, Officer Meikle of the Norwich Police Department located the vehicle, a black 1999 Chrysler, and its owner at 40 Donahue Drive in Norwich.

The registered owner was the operator at the time of the accident, police said.

Amalia Rivera, 36, was charged with second-degree assault, evading responsibility, and fail to drive right.

Bond is set at $100,000. She is set to appear in Norwich Superior Court on Oct 25.
