Arrest made in stabbing of 23-year-old

WINCHESTER, Conn. (WTNH) -- An arrest was made after a 23-year-old was stabbed during an altercation.

Around 12:00 p.m. the victim was stabbed in his lower abdomen at 98 Meadow St. in Winsted.

He was trasported to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in stable condition and underwent emergency surgery.

His condition is unknown and name will not be released pending notification of his family.

Donald Hatfield, 45, of 920 Main Street in Winsted, was arrested without incident.

Police say they recovered a pocket knife in a storm drain in the same area.

Bond is set at $75,000 and court date is set for Dec. 3 at the Superior Court in Bantam.

The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests may be made.
