WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) -- Waterbury police announced Saturday they've arrested a man in connection with a shooting at a city package store.
Robert Day, 35, of Waterbury, was held on a $250,000 bond.
The shooting happened during an attempted robbery back on August 22 at the Pereira's Package Store on Homer Street.
Instead of handing over the contents of the register, owner Frank Pereira reached for his gun, but he wasn't quick enough. He was shot in the shoulder but the shooter took off empty handed.
Day is charged with attempted robbery, assault and firearms crimes.
Pereira was not seriously injured.
Day is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
Police said they were able to make the arrest thanks to a tip from the public. Additional arrests may be made.
