New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - A local bakery owner was sentenced to federal probation for employing illegal immigrants.
65-year-old Anthony DiBenedetto of North Branford owns Rocco's Bakery in New Haven and Meriden.
A federal judge in New Haven sentenced DiBenedetto to three years of probation and 150 hours of community service.
Court documents say DiBenedetto had at least 10 people working for him that he knew were in the country illegally and not authorized to work.
The judge in this case will also schedule a hearing within 30-days to determine if DiBenedetto will have to forfeit any cash or assests.
On January 26, 2011, DiBenedetto pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful employment of aliens.
