Officers say they spotted the suspect, Paul Albert, 32, of 85 Woodmere Rd., West Hartford, driving away and during a chase, Albert threw money from the heist out the window of his car.
Around 2:15 p.m., witnesses say Albert entered the bank on Main Street and threatened the bank teller with a knife. He left the bank after getting an undisclosed amount of money.
A short while later, police spotted Albert in a car and a chase ensued. During the chase, police say he threw some of the stolen cash out the window.
Troopers used stop sticks to stop the car off the roadway in Marlborough, where Albert was arrested.
Inside the car, police were able to find the knife used in the robbery, as well as the rest of the stolen money.
Albert was charged with robbery and a host of other criminal charges. He is being held on bond until his appearance in Superior Court on Feb. 28.
Troopers worked to recover the cash from the roadway.
