HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) - A Hartford man who authorities say confessed to hiding cameras that recorded men using public restrooms was arraigned Thursday morning in Hartford Superior Court.
Paul Deveau, 51, has been charged with 12 counts of felony voyeurism with malice. He was arrested last week after a customer found a sound-activated video camera in a West Hartford Starbucks bathroom. Police say video from the camera shows Deveau setting it up.
Authorities say Deveau also confessed to putting cameras in three other public restrooms in West Hartford, Bloomfield and Hebron. Police say Deveau told them he had been recording men using restrooms for about a year.
As Deveau was leaving the courtroom, someone from the gallery yelled out "pervert!" He is due back in court September 12.
