Berlin man confesses to bank robberies

SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Berlin man was arrested Monday for a bank robbery that happened in Southington last month, as well as multiple others committed in the area.

The incident occurred on December 3rd, at the Farmington Savings Bank, located at 1 Center St.

According to police, 35-year-old Robert Armstrong, of 22 Dunham Dr., Berlin, allegedly entered the bank and demanded money.

No weapon was displayed or implied during the robbery.

After investigating, police identified Armstrong as a possible suspect. He was interviewed and later confessed to committing the crime, as well as other bank robberies in Berlin and Bristol.

Armstrong was charged with third-degree robbery and fifth-degree larceny.

He was held on a $100,000 bond.
