BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A Bridgeport City Council member is disputing allegations by police that his kilt-wearing son threatened officers after allegedly fighting with another man in a kilt after the city's St. Patrick's Day parade.

Councilman Bob Curwen told the Connecticut Post on Monday that it isn't in his son's nature to threaten police officers.

Officer Christine Burns wrote in a report that Curwen's son, 36-year-old Robert Curwen Jr., became combative, used his father's name and threatened to get officers involved in his arrest fired.

Police say they charged the younger Curwen with breach of peace and interfering with police on Friday evening while responding to a report of two men in kilts fighting at an after-parade gathering.

A police spokesman says the officer's report speaks for itself.
