BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A 19-year-old Bridgeport man was charged with setting fire to the home of a man who had allegedly shot him.

Guillermo Quinones Jr. was arrested Monday on an arson charge after a resident managed to douse the flames on the porch of an apartment house, The Connecticut Post reported (http://bit.ly/Mphfns).

Detective Keith Bryant said Quinones was angry after being shot in the leg earlier Monday during a fight with 19-year-old Miguel Torres, who lived in the building.

Bryant said the two men had been arguing when Quinones pulled a knife and Torres pulled a gun. Police said Torres fled on a bicycle, and Quinones went to the home to confront him.

Quinones stood outside the house, challenging Torres to come out and when he didn't appear, Quinones set fire to the front porch, Bryant said.

Another resident of the house put out the fire with a bucket of water he was using to wash the floor, and the home sustained only minor damage, Bryant said.

Torres was charges with assault and carrying a pistol without a permit, and was jailed on a $50,000 bond.

Quinones, who was charged with first-degree arson and criminal mischief, was listed in stable condition at St. Vincent's Medical Center, where he was being treated for his gunshot wound.
