BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — A New York man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for selling drugs and possessing a firearm.
The U.S. Attorney's office said Thursday that 34-year-old Raheem Hansberry was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Bridgeport.
Authorities say Hansberry was arrested on Oct. 14, 2010, after fleeing from and struggling with Hartford police officers. During the struggle, prosecutors say, Hansberry repeatedly reached for his waistband.
Authorities say Hansberry had a loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol in his waistband and four glass vials containing more than 14 grams of pure PCP in his pocket.
Hansberry pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 10 or more grams of PCP and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
A telephone message left with Hansberry's attorney was not immediately returned.
