Candidate charged after crash

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (CTPost.com) -- A day after winning the Democratic primary in the 128th state house district, Christina Ayala was charged Wednesday night with evading responsibility after police say she fled the scene of an accident.
Police said Ayala was involved in an accident just before 9 p.m. at the intersection of North Avenue and Briarwood Avenue.
Ayala was charged with evading responsibility, failure to obey a traffic signal and failure to renew registration, police said. She was released on a promise to appear in court.
