Change in plea expected in Le murder

New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - A change in plea is expected when the accused killer of Yale grad student Annie Le appears in court later today.

Lab technician Raymond Clark is accused of murdering Le and stuffing her body into a wall at an animal research center in September, 2009.

Clark, 25, initially pleaded not guilty to murder and felony murder, but has apparently come to some agreement and will change his plea to guilty. That would mean he avoids a trial and possibly longer sentence.

Clark worked in the lab with Le. There was reportedly quite a bit of DNA evidence of the crime.

Le was a 3rd-year doctoral student in pharmacology from Placerville, California. Local and state police as well as the FBI had been searching for her for 5 days. Her body was found on what would have been her wedding day.

Le's family has released a statement saying that they are relieved to hear about the guilty plea, but said they don't want to comment further than that.

It is not a done deal yet and won't be until it's officially announced in court.
