Cheshire, Conn. - Cheshire police say a local man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a woman early Saturday morning.
Police say that two women arrived at the station at 6:45 a.m. to report a kidnapping and sexual assault. The 42 and 18-year-old women told police they were held against their will in a home in Cheshire.
The two also reported that one of them were forced to remain in one room of the home while the other was sexually assaulted in an adjacent room. One of the victims also suffered a laceration to her hand. Both also indicated to police they were threatened to be killed.
Police say the descriptions the two victims provided helped mark 41-year-old Mark Altieri as the suspect. Altieri was later found hiding in a basement closet in a home in Seymour. A woman at the home initially told police Altieri wasn't there.
63-year-old Joan Detullio was arrested by Seymour Police for giving assistance to Altieri in an attempt to keep him from being arrested by Seymour and Cheshire police. Altieri is being held by Cheshire Police on a $500,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
