STAMFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A Stamford woman was arrested after allegedly embezzling more than $400,000 for her grandmother's bank accounts.
According to police, 35-year-old Heather Gansel, a doctor of chiropractic, embezzled $415,000 in funds from her 92-year-old grandmother's bank accounts over the past two years while she held 'Power of Attorney.'
Records show that the funds were removed from the grandmother's accounts, deposited into Gansel's accounts and then spent on Gansel's business and personal expenses.
The grandmother, who had been interviewed after the initial complaint, has since died.
Gansel, of 1500 Hope St., Stamford, was charged with first-degree larceny.
She was released on $50,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court on December 13th.
