Canterbury, Conn. (WTNH) - At 2:30 Tuesday morning the surveillance camera inside a Canterbury Rite Aid captured thieves breaking right into the front door.
State police are searching for the thieves who stole five cartons of cigarettes from the Canterbury pharmacy. After that, they tried to break into the newly opened D&G Pizza and Pub, also in the Westminster Road plaza.
"And he goes they also tried to break into yours. And I said how do you know that? He says the police followed them there with the dogs. It was right in your back door," said Demetrios Pasiakos.
Pasiakos just opened D&G Pizza and Pub Monday. He remodeled the space and beefed up security.
Improvements were made to the store because two compressors were stolen from the former owner. Tuesday's theft is new cause for concern.
"A little bit, a little bit, because we spend a lot of money in here and I don't want anybody coming in here and damaging anything," he said.
In addition to the bolt lock the owners have also alarmed both of his two compressors out back so what happened to the previous owner won't happen again.
