BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut judge is scheduled to hold a hearing on whether a man convicted of killing two adults and a 9-year-old girl in Bridgeport is competent for the penalty phase of his trial.
Richard Roszkowski faces the possibility of the death penalty for the shooting deaths of 39-year-old Holly Flannery, her daughter Kylie and 38-year-old Thomas Gaudet in 2006.
A jury condemned him to death in 2009, but the verdict was overturned because the judge made a mistake during jury instructions. A new penalty phase was ordered.
Roszkowski has been declared incompetent to stand trial. A hearing is set for Wednesday in Bridgeport Superior Court on whether Roszkowski is now competent after receiving treatment.
Witnesses testified Roszkowski believed Gaudet was having an affair with Flannery, who was Roszkowski's ex-girlfriend.
