WATERFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- It looks like a voyeur is on the loose around the Crystal Mall in Waterford, and police want help from the public in catching him.
Surveillance cameras caught a guy inside clothing stores at the Crystal Mall, where police say he was using a much smaller camera attached to the top of his sneaker, to sneak a peek under the doors of store dressing rooms.
"Just the feeling, I feel so bad for these women," said Debra Wade of Waterford. "It's like they've just been violated, really."
If you ask any woman, she would probably tell you that she would definitely notice a guy's sneaker sliding under the dressing room door."
"I don't know where this world's going, really," said John Anthony of Uncasville, "and he has [the camera] on the top of his foot? That's sickening."
News 8 asked a few female mall-goers if they would notice something like this happening.
"Yes, I would notice that," said Christina Grillo of Salem.
"Oh, absolutely. I think I would notice a man lurking around the dressing room," said Wade.
Donna Deabay, from East Lyme, thinks that fitting rooms should have attendants looking out for this sort of thing.
"Years ago there used to be someone at the fitting rooms to check in your clothes," Deabay explained, "like some of the stores do. Maybe they should go back to that."
Police say it happened twice, on September 8th and 29th. The man is about 6' tall, 200 pounds and bald with glasses.
When mall security confronted him the second time, he ran off and he hasn't been seen since.
The Mall's Manager, Karen Tarantino, has released a statement:
"At Crystal Mall, the safety and security of our shoppers, retail tenants and employees is our top priority. We proudly maintain a close working relationship with local law enforcement authorities and are in full cooperation with the Waterford Police Department on this matter."
Police would like to arrest this guy, so, if you recognize him, call Waterford Police at (860) 442-9451.
