HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — An East Hampton man is facing a federal charge that he left a fake bomb device at the front doors of a middle school.
Federal authorities said Friday that 20-year-old Sean Doran was charged with intentionally conveying false or misleading information and a hoax by leaving the device at East Hampton Middle School on Jan. 12.
Doran pleaded not guilty to the charge in U.S. District Court in Hartford and was released on a $50,000 bond.
If convicted, Doran faces up to five years in prison.
Doran's attorney, Gerald Klein, noted his client also faces state charges and has given a statement to authorities. He described Doran as "very remorseful for whatever he did."
